Oxford PharmaGenesis has recently held a fundraising event in Oxford and London, for Purple Day, an international initiative to increase awareness about epilepsy. To mark the day, staff wore purple to show their support for people living with this condition.

A variety of fundraising challenges were placed throughout the offices, including an epilepsy-themed crossword competition and a ‘find the treasure game’. In addition to participating in these activities, the company gathered together at lunchtime to share a delicious spread of food generously prepared by members of the company.

Approximately 50 million people worldwide have epilepsy and in the UK, for example, an average of 87 people are diagnosed with the disorder each day. Despite being relatively common, epilepsy is often a misunderstood condition. Purple Day is aimed at getting people talking about epilepsy in an effort to dispel myths and inform those living with epilepsy that they are not alone. A grand total of £145.56 was raised by Oxford PharmaGenesis staff, which will be donated to Epilepsy Action.
