Oxford PharmaGenesis is pleased to be supporting cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) initiatives by providing employees with training opportunities so that they are better equipped to help someone if they are having a cardiac arrest.

Training in the UK was provided by South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS), and the American Red Cross trained the US team.

SCAS Divisional Commander Dick Tracey said that the classes are an initiative to stop people in Oxfordshire dying unnecessarily from cardiac arrest. Mr Tracey is also heading a campaign to place hundreds more defibrillators for public use across the county. He said: “We want to teach everybody over the age of 12 how to perform this simple but lifesaving task. The more people in the community we train in CPR, the greater the chances of saving someone who has suffered a cardiac arrest.”

Oxford PharmaGenesis has made a donation to SCAS towards a mobile training unit.

Meanwhile,   in the USA, American Red Cross training included both standard and compression-only CPR, as well as appropriate use of automated external defibrillators.
